Did you know that your anxiety is helping ou?

Previously I’ve discussed what your anxiety is for and how it’s trying to help you.

So, to follow on I want to share my 5 steps to using your anxiety in the most productive way possible.

1. Understand the motive

Anxiety is a motivator, it is the feeling that is there to drive you forward and push you to either remove yourself from a situation or resolve something that is causing you anxiety.?

A popular action however is to run from it – bury your head in the sand – and by doing this, anxiety isn’t doing it’s job and will yell louder and louder for your attention until it can become unbearable.?

This is why it is so important to understand what it’s motive is, so once you know this, then you can move on to step 2.

2. Plan your next steps

Planning makes it more likely for you to stick to your actions, this is because a reasonable plan can give you that light at the end of the tunnel that you couldn’t see before.?

Once you plan how you are going to tackle your motivator, then things will seem a bit clearer and you’ll be less likely to run this time.

3. Be realistic with time

You might think that you can dedicate more time than you have to certain things, and this is going to put unnecessary pressure on you and create more anxiety!

If you’re not realistic with how much time you have, then you will set yourself up for disappointment. I tend to overestimate my spare time by around half an hour.

4. Don’t worry

Failure isn’t a bad thing, even if you hear otherwise. This is the only way you can find out what works and what doesn’t work. So, instead of calling it a failure, accept it as a learning curve and a form of discovering ways that don’t work for you. Eventually, if you keep trying, you’ll find success.

5. START RIGHT NOW!

There’s no time like the present. So stop procrastinating and start doing.
