Is your January boring or blissful? How to have a successful 2023

The month of January seems to divide a lot of people in how we feel going into the new year.

The build up to the Christmas holidays starts earlier and earlier every year. With that, when you reach the crescendo, that plato in the new year can either be steep or steady.

You can almost be split into one of two different types of people. This split can say a lot about you and is also a tell tale sign of what you should be doing with your first month of the year. If you get it right, it could mean a very successful year ahead:

Why is January so boring?

Have you said this before?

Businesses are slowly opening again, there are sales but you have no money left and this is why there isn’t much going on. Businesses know their clientele and there just isn’t much interest in spending money in January. Or doing anything for that matter.

If you felt that the second New Years Day came and passed, you were ready to get back into you routine, this month can seem as if it is going at a snails pace.

If this does sound like you, there is a lot you can do to utilise this month. You may find yourself with more time than you planned as you wait to be able to get back into the swing of things. Is there anything new you have fancied trying? Because this is a great time to try now.

If you love it, then you can find a way to incorporate it into your week! If you end up not liking it, then you know now and you can move forward with everything else.

This month can only feel boring if you aren’t learning to adapt to your surroundings. By doing this you are also learning a fundamental skill, just because your usual plans have fallen through, that doesn’t mean you need to stay still.

Learn to adapt, develop and keep moving forward in anything you do.

Why is January the best month?

On the opposite end of the scale, you may feel at your most relaxed and at peace in this month.

There are far less pressures to be moving at a certain pace. If you feel this way then this is great time to understand how you are feeling outside of January.

In the same way the former person must learn to adapt to who they are, it’s also important for you to reflect on your own pace in life. Moving forward is a vital skill, but that must be done avoiding burnout and feeling overwhelmed.

Within the post-Christmas haze, this is your time to make a plan for the year. What do you want for 2023? And more importantly, is it realistic? Can you find balance?

You can do this by also noting down 2022. What did you achieve this past year, what was in your way and how did the past year make you feel?

If you had felt overwhelmed, use it to learn where to find balance and what was the tipping point for you?

Happy 2023

Either way you are feeling in January, you can use it to benefit your life in 2023. Find new meaning by reflecting on how you are feeling now and how you want to feel this year.
