I was honoured to chat with Kait Borsay (Times Radio) on the topic of Christmas and the new ‘Rule of six’.
With future lockdowns on the horizon and a lack of certainty in the air, it’s something I’ve been asked to comment on a few times now. We’re living in unique and unpredictable times, and many of us need something guaranteed to look forward to.
It goes without saying that this Christmas will be a little different to the last. For many of us following the rules, it’s going to be difficult with the new ‘Rule of six’ in place.
Corona Virus Cases are starting to spike again. We won’t be able to have the large family gatherings that we’re used to. And just as we thought there was a light at the end of the tunnel, there’s a chance we could find ourselves in another national lockdown.
To give ourselves the best possible opportunity to celebrate Christmas with our loved ones, it’s as important as ever for us to follow the rules. To prevent another lockdown, we need to ensure we get this next phase of lockdown right.
During times like these, it’s normal to feel disheartened. But what we’re finding is that people are more frustrated than scared. This frustrated feeling means that there’s going to be more rule-breaking. We can’t let this happen, or we’ll find ourselves in a perpetual cycle.
In my conversation with Kait, I elaborate more on getting ourselves mentally ready for the rest of the year. We should never stop considering how we are going to treat each step of the pandemic and come out of it as best we can.
