“I specialise in pre and post-natal mental health, such as birth trauma, body image and post-natal depression, and fertility issues.”
I am Miriam Christie, an integrative counsellor and yoga therapist working online in South East London.
Firstly, I am co-founder of the Nurture Hub, a service specialising in fertility issues and perinatal mental health. Some examples of this, for instance, are pre-natal depression, birth fear, birth trauma, body image and post-natal depression. Further, my other areas of expertise include depression, anxiety and somatic distress.
Additionally, my approach to therapy is based on creating an empathic and safe space. And, of course, a space for you to explore troubling or distressing feelings and experiences.
I blend yoga-based methods into my work where fitting. I utilise techniques, such as grounding-work, breath-work, guided meditation and visualisations. Certainly, these kinds of practices can help to aid self-exploration. They can also enable people to manage anxiety so that its roots can be talked about in a way that feels safe.
Finally, I know it is not always possible to have baby-free time. Moreover, the lack of a babysitter should not stop you from getting mental health support. Therefore, if you need to bring your baby to the session, it will never be a problem with me.
