“Changing old beliefs may not be immediately obvious. As the saying goes- “you can’t read the label from inside the jar” – that’s what I’m here for”
What do I provide for you?
I am here to guide, support and encourage you on your path to self-discovery and self-healing. To step out and see the bigger picture and find the solutions to your difficulties. Therapy is an investment in yourself. Just as your physical health requires attention and self-care, so does your mental health.
I am a BSc integrative counsellor, with an MSc in Psychology and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and British Psychological Society (BPS).
What is my experience?
My past experiences include:
– Women’s Aid: Trauma counselling for historical sexual childhood abuse, rape or sexual assault
– Lambeth Talking Therapies
– NHS IAPT: Working with clients with a variety of presenting problems and diverse backgrounds – The Awareness Centre: Open-ended, long-term counselling
– The Listening Place: Working with high-risk clients who have lost the will to live.
My background in international relationships coupled with my extensive travels has allowed me to appreciate the importance of the cultural viewpoint and cultural differences. It has prepared me to be culturally sensitive and mindful of individual differences and cultural perspectives, cognitive processes, and even historical or cultural expectations that might play out in the therapeutic relationship.
More on Silvi Neykova
All of us face challenges and hardships in life and feel less able to cope — such times can be stressful, frightening, and lonely. Seeking help or support is not always easy. Talking to friends and family may be difficult, as we may experience shame and guilt, and fear rejection or judgement when we are at our most vulnerable. At times, you may struggle with painful memories from the past or difficult feelings, or perhaps you don’t enjoy life anymore and lost a sense of meaning or maybe you feel stuck in a situation and can’t see a way out of it.
Sometimes all that is required is an exploration of yourself, your situation and your struggles in a warm and safe environment dedicated to you and your unique needs. Changing old beliefs and patterns of behaviour may not be immediately obvious. As the saying goes- “you can’t read the label from inside the jar” or you can’t efficiently identify or solve your own problems because you’re just too close to them.
